Everytime i try to put a dvd-9 onto a dvd-r, everything goes well and seems to work. The movies always freeze at the end, usually around an hour and 40 minutes. The movies freeze in both my computer and my standalone player. I know it is not my media because the dvd-5 movies i burn work just fine. It has happened four times now out of four attempts. Coould it have something to do with the drivers for the dvd burning software that came installed on my computer? its a vaio that came with dvgate preloaded....i heard that could have something to do with these problems._X_X_X_X_X_[small]gl0bal p0rk industries (907)[/small]
A dvd-9 will not fit on a single dvd-r. A dvd-r can only hold 4.37gb and a dvd-9 has 2 layers and can hold around 8gb. To copy a dvd-9 you have a couple choices: 1) split the movie to 2 dvd-r. 2) shrink the movie & extras down to fit on 1 dvd-r. There are guides on this site and www.doom9.org for both options. For option 1 look for ifoedit or dvdxcopy to do the trick. For option 2 look at dvd2one or guides on stripping extras and transcoding.
Yeah, im talking about after i put the dvd-9 through dvd2one and shrink it to 4.36 gigs. Its after that that i get problems. it plays fine for a while in either my computer or dvd player, but then freezes and the timer skips around like the dvd lens can't read the disc. I had it once tell me in my windows based dvd player that the disc seemed to have been damaged to inhibit playback...any help?
Smartripper 2.41 DVD2One 1.02 Nero 5.5.9.9 Just using these 3 progs I've successfully backed up everything attempted (around 30 DVD's). Only one DVD gave me problems and that was 'THE CELL'. P.S. I wish DVD2One sorted out Episodes, cos then there would be no need for Ifo-edit or Ifo-Update to be on my PC. I'm hoping this will be looked at REAL soon! peace out , herbsman
P.P.S. p0rkburn , I lend my friend Zoe some CHARMED episodes that I d/l (I have broadband & she has not). They sometimes play and sometimes do not!! The discs that I burnt said CHARMED episodes to only had .mpeg or .avi files and her VAIO said to her 'INVALID CD' <-- Seeing as I gave her a DVD-R it would seem that it is a Sony Vaio problem. Does the VAIO read DVD-R/RW or DVD+R/RW or both ?
