I'm authoring a DVD in DVDLab Pro from VOBs on a pre-existing DVD. I joined the VOBs and moved the Joined file to my assets. I then set the chapter points for the movie myself (none of that Auto-chapter business). Everything appeared to be fine, but when I compiled the dvd and viewed it I noticed that the chapters points started hitting progressively earlier than the points I'd actually set them at. The first few chapters start right where they should, and then it just gets worse from there. I realize that chapter points need to be at I-frames and there is an option for lagging a second or so, but by the end of the movie the chapters are starting a good 10-12 seconds earlier than they should be. My chapter menu still shows the thumbnails images where I set them, and reviewing the chapter points in the program showed that none of them had moved from where I set them, so I'm really stumped as to what happened. I've authored this same movie before in TMPGENC DVD Author with the same method (pulling VOBs from disc) and not had this problem. Any ideas?
Have you frame-indexed? In general frame-indexing is a good idea for getting more accuracy. It has worked good for me in all cases so far.
i thought the program frame-indexed automatically when it compiled. the chapters have the green diamonds above them, anyway. I'll look into this.
If you have the green diamonds then it's frame indexed. If you have not frame-indexed, you'll have the option to do so when you compile...
yeah, it was already frame indexed. no dice. thanks anyway, though. i may just end up having to figure out how many seconds the chapter points are off by and adjusting them accordingly. lame.
