OK i am totally perplexed as to why this wont work... issue is i am trying to authgor a dvd. i have done so with nero time and time again with no problem. I am using the vob files from the video_ts folder that i have joined together with dvdshrink. i can load the resulting file into nero and create their simple menu and send it thru to burn no problem. the dvd will play from hdd and from the cd placed in the rom and in my dvd player.. which is a denon capable of playing dvd-r media the issue is i take that same file load it into dvdlab pro. (reason for wanting to use dvdlab pro is i want a better menu setup for my dvds) but anyways.... load the vob file into assets (vob_ts.1.xx) let dvdlab demux it. I use dvd shrink to make a small clip of movie ab 16 sec.. (to use as a motion background) again load this file into assets and let dvdlab demux it. project setting are set to ntsc. the info in the assets window says the movie is in pal format tho. i set everything up. create my chapters manually and set up my initial menu. set links and then render motion for the menu. so u all know how i go ab rendering the menu....i first set up type, buttons and my links for my main menu. then add video background (pull it from assets over the menu icon in connections).... and then render. for some reason it automaticaly applies the rendered file to my menu rather than me having to drag it into my menu as i read here somewhere else in the forums. not sure where the setting is to change that but once i am finished i do the debug option and make sure everything is pointing to correct paths and is in order. after that i compile it. compile goes smoothly no prob. just get the gop error saying its open or something but have read in other threads to just ignore it but maybe i shouldnt.... but i do. once it is completed i then take the new video_ts folder and open it with powerdvd to see if it plays correctly... well it does. so of course i move onto burning it to dvd. i do this by using dvdfab 3081 not dvdlab. i use the file option locate video_ts folder and set it going. completes successfully... play the cd from the pc.. again it works... put it in my dvd player an i get disc read error. disc unplayable. i just dont get it. why does it work when i author with the same movie with the same files with nero but not dvdlab? why does it play in everything but my standalone when i use dvdlab? its obviously not the disk. i use the same dvd-rw disc and burn it on both and still same thing just to eliminate that poss. burn them both at max speed too. use the same video-ts folder to get the vob files from. the only difference that i know of for sure is i author the vob files in nero and it works all around. and if i take the same files and reauthor in dvdlab it doesnt. well i mean not in my standalone that is. also so not to confuse anyone. i will take the same authored video_ts done with dvdlab pro and i also try just burning that with nero. still same issue. only if i entirely author with nero will it play in the standalone. i can also just recopy from the video_ts folder created by nero with dvdfab too. ok i have rambled enough hope i didnt lose anyone... what could i be doing wrong? i dont think it has to do with pal or ntsc because they both convert the files due to the proj settings in both. and i have even gone into vobblanker and checked this too.. i just cant figure it out.... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i am new to this but i have been continually looking thru the threads to find out solutions but i just can not find a solution to this one.. please someone help
If you live in NTSC zone, I would strongly suggest to convert your movie to NTSC. Since your project is set for that format. All your files in asset bin sholud be the same format. I do not know, but it is possible that Nero convert it to NTSC as you go. DVD lab does not do any conversion, it is strictly authoring software. Also could be that you use DVD-RW, some players do not like this, but if the same disk play authored with Nero, than that is out of the question. Other think is you do not have to join files prior loading to DVD lab, it will ask you if you want to join them during import.
All them words and still nothing about which TV system you are and whether your player can handle both NTSC and PAL DVDs. What you describe sounds exactly like this (as was mentioned). Nero will re-encode PAL to NTSC, DVD-lab will not.
