    Hey everyone,
Does anyone know the largest size a background image for a menu can be on DVDlab pro? I do believe it has to either be a PNG of bitmap, but even then, i'm not really sure about that either. Also, does anyone know of a guide to making some decent motion menus and how to link them to chapters and that sort? I would sort of like to have a chapter selection menu with animated or high quality "rollover" effects, not just simply just a color change of a simple standard font. Also, i'd like to have a portion of the highlighted chapter play on the side in a window w/o audio. I'm i getting too technical or ambitious? This is the first dvd i've authored and i don't want it to be super basic crap. It does come with a help file but i'd rather talk to someone with experience with this program or what i'm trying to do.

    Thanks

You can use any size you want, even a .jpg.
DVDLab will resize it to 720x480/576 automatically, and save it as a .bmp
I know of no guides for motion menu's.
Rollover is an HTML function, not possible in dvdlab.
Motion menu's with a window of a portion of video is easy.
Just drag and drop the video from the preview screen onto your menu.
Position it, add a frame if you want, resize it, whatever, then click the magic want button, select Render motion menu.
Adjust the start and end time, then render it.
It will automatically be put in the assets, and into the menu.
Remove the audio track from the menu if you don't want it (or it may not appear at all).

    hey jim,

I don't actually mean using rollover, i mean like a rollover effect, and if you arrow down with your remote, when a certain menu selection is highlighted, it will do something besides just change color, like a standard rollover or link change on a website. I Was wondering if there was a way to import an image file of the word say like "Chapters" - and when highlighted and animates into a different version of the word "chapters", similar to a rollover, but more dramatic. Also, if you remember talking me through it..lol.. i converted the avi to mpeg, imported it into DVDlab pro, and i now have it divided into chapters. Is there a way to display a certain chapter in a small window from inside the chapter selection menu when you are highlighting that certain chapter's name. I didn't know if you were meaning that to do so, you actually have to have the chapters divided into their own separate files, which i don't. Is there a way you can do this.

    Thanks for the help Jim

    Easily, just use switched menus.
I have a tutorial on it on the videohelp.com website.
    Vaguely :)
Click Menu, scene selection menu, and go from there. You'll figure it out :)
