I am looking for a DVDRHD04 and if anybody out there knows where I can get one PLEASE let me know....
E-BAY is a joke on there prices and I figured I would get in touch with afterdawn to spread the word..

You're lucky. I've had mine for a year and a half and now having problems. When I defrag, the machine locks up and then I lose about half of my recorded programs. It won't let me copy programs to DVD (DVD+R, RW various brands). Now my programs have a very noticablly loud hum in them. All of this has happened in the last few months. And yes I have done all of the hacks and firmware updates. You just must be lucky. I won't buy one of these or anything from this manufacturer again. Good luck finding yours!

Defrag a HDD in a DVD or PC is a rewrite of all files. Files are rewritten so as to place them in an orderly fashion so the HDD can access them faster with less wasted space.
A HDD in DVD unit will also place the video files in any space avail. A Defrag will rearrange them. BUT all to often video files will be corrupted and result in a program glitch or loss.
DO NOT Defrag a HDD Recorder
An ilo RHD04 and the LiteOn 5045 are similar except for the 5045 All-write and larger HDD.
Both units as to hack, are out of production
If anyone wants a RHD04 or 5045 [To Hack] they will most likely have to bite the bullet and pay the price.
I have two RHD04, two R04 units and a 5045 all units have worked very well. The major problem can be the DVD drive, But it can be replaced, Along with other issues Check these sites.

    This is my opinion
There is not a unit that will replace a 5045 or RHD04 for a specific purpose. There are units that are less of a use problem, but I feel that a great share of the problems are not understanding the machine and its operation,
Operator Error is a major cause of problems

When I read your post. While the RHD04 is a great machine, I would recommend getting a 5045, if found, Either way you might be faced with a troublesome DVD drive and need to replace it

    Edit
[thronedad] -- posted on another thread that he might dump His RHD04
You might contact him/her.---- Sounds like it would be a good unit
