I have an NEC 3550A and lately it has seen every DVD+RW I have put into it as a DVD-ROM even though it is booktyped differently.
This could be due to having out of date burner firmware. It could also be that your burner just doesn't like the particular RW media you're using. The newest firmware for the 3550 is this one: http://support.necam.com/optical/downloads/flashfirmware/fw/ND3550A_v107.exe Do you know the manufacturer of the disks? You can use DVD Identifier to ID the manufacturer or use Nero Info Tool or DVD Decrypter in write mode (see Disk ID. http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/
Someone on cdFreaks figured it out. For anyone with the same problem, disable the "Ignore Media Type" in the emulation settings in Alcohol 120% Thank You for replying. If it weren't for the internet and kind people who try to help others on forums, half the world would be employed tech supporting the other half.
