DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW are just the media you burn the movie to.

[bold]First[/bold], you convert an AVI to a DVD movie (i.e. you convert AVI --> M2V (mpeg-2 video) + MVA (AC3, MP2, DTS); then you author those files into other files: video_ts.ifo, video_ts.bup, vts_01_0.ifo vts_01_0.bup, vts_01_1.vob (and so on, up to vts_N_1.vob, calculating that 1 VOB is 1 GB max and on a DVD5 you fit 4.3 GB (5 VOBs), more in a DVD9 (9 VOBs).

[bold]Then[/bold], you choose in which media you burn that stuff to.
