wondering if someone can help me, i am trying to backup a dvd using nero 6.0.0.9 i have a pioneer 106 dvd writer, and am using good media - datawrite 4 speed dvd -r nero says the dvd reads in ok, 100%, and writes, ok all the way to 100%, its just when i come to play it, my dvd player wont recognise it and neither will my pc using power dvd, it just says wrong format. it was working for the first 10 or something dvds, they played perfectly in dvd player but has suddenly started doing this. i have scrapped quite a few dvds so if anyone can be of any help it would be much appreciated.
shinda, 1. Check to make sure standalone player is compatibly with your media. 2. Try a different media, top shelf stuff - who knows, you might have gotten a bad media batch. 3. Re-check settings in Nero New Compilation to make sure everything is as it should be. 4. Re-check your procedure - follow this to the letter - Step by Step – Do not use Nero Wizard. When you open Nero Burning ROM, you will be at the “New Compilation” window. Directly under the title “New Compilation” is a choice block to choose either DVD or CD, choose DVD. Directly under that click on DVD Video. Then click “New” in the upper right corner of that screen, NOT the main screen. You now are in the DVD Video window. In the left screen, click VIDEO_TS. In the File Browser screen, 3rd from the left, trace your path to the DVDShrink folder holding your work and click on that folder. All of your VIDEO_TS files are now opened in the right screen. Click on the top file, hold down the “Shift” key and then click the bottom file thereby hi-lighting the entire column of files. Click and (holding the left mouse button down) drag the entire column of files to the open screen, second from the left. Now click the icon on the task bar that shows a match on a disc, and then click “Burn” and Baby, now you are done !!! Keep all fingers and toes away from Mr. Computer. Go and have your coffee, when Nero is done, it will let you know. “P”
Hi guys, Heres a link to a tool that Nero has for checking drivers and the registry: http://www.nero.com/us/631938356417810.html Frank _X_X_X_X_X_[small]motorcycle racer computer newbie Sony VAIO Suzuki GSXR1000[/small]
cheers guys for all the help, the media i'm using is datawrite classic 4x dvd-r (yellow tops) it should be ok? shouldn't it? my standalone dvd player plays these discs normally all the time when i get dvds from my mate. is the software i am using ok? i use dvd shrink to produce the video_ts files then burn them like you said pete using nero, the version of shrink i am using is version 3 beta 5 and the version of nero i am using is 6.0.0.9 all my settings seem to be ok, as i said, everything was ok at first, just started scrapping discs suddenly. the procedure i use is as you said pete. i did defragment my hard drive last night, whether or not that will make a difference? i'll have to try burning another disc. cheers once again for your help guys
sorry.. also my os is win xp, i do have roxio 5 installed whether that will make a difference? and my norton antivirus autoprotect is enabled, i also have regkill on in the system tray set to automatic region and zonealarm running. the thing that gets me is that the dvds read in ok to 100% and write 100% so dont know what going on!!! help!!!
if its a dvd5 movie then try dvd decrypter if not try again with nero making sure there is no programs partially booted that might effect it also just cuz your mates worked dosent mean yours will as my mums dvd player plays copys none of which i made i just couldnt get a backup to work in it till i made one with dvdxcopy so sometimes a thew different things have to be tried i guess hope you find out soon G-4CE
shinda, Don't feel poorly, the stuff at the bottom should bail us out - Every time we hear "Roxio" our skin crawls. There are a few guys who use "Roxio" to burn with but the rest of us (myself included) have deleted "Roxio" as it doesn't get along well with others in the school yard. As a matter of fact when you download Nero with all the plug-ins it will request that you uninstall Roxio. I'm not familiar with Datawrite but if it was working for you before, keep using it - Doing a Defrag on your computer has no effect on your programs except to allow them to run faster. ZA and Norton have no effect on your programs but registration altering programs like Regkill I'm not sure about - HOWEVER - Taa Taa, Taa Taa, (the sound of trumpets playing through out the land) If you were burning perfectly a short time ago and as you stated, "suddenly has started doing this" - Why not use that really neato thing on XP systems - the "restore function" ?? It sounds like something you did started this whole mess Sooo, go back before it started and click "Restore" - give it a shot - Good Luck, "P" You have given me the answer to your problem !!
scuba pete im sure if you do not defrag your pc reguarly then the program will not get the information it need's as quick as it demands which may result in a backup which stutters and pause's _X_X_X_X_X_[small]There's no such thing as a lost cause it just has to be found[/small]
Hi, I had problems with DVDs reading DVD-R back-ups so changed to DVD+R and I since had no problems. I use Power DVD to check the back-ups, before I burn them using Nero. In Power DVD, you push "Select Source" button and use the "Open DVD File on hard disk drive" Browse to where the DVD Back-up is - C,D, F or G Drive and open the "Video TS" file. Should play the DVD from the beginning You can check out video quality, menus and audio before you burn it. Remember to place all the back-up files into the "video_ts" folder in Nero? Hope that helps P.S. have had no bad burns since switching to DVD+R and checking back-ups before burning. Good Luck
Mai_gts, You may have a point - I never asked if the -R media was the same stuff as he was using before, when he was burning fine. I made the rash assumption that it was - in which case we are looking for another fault - Burners (like my Nec) are dual formats and so I wonder why I'm stuck using only 1 format - the DVD+R. However I found out something that might help you if you are in the same boat as I - Some of the burners, like mine work Great using DVD-R, AZO media. The AZO is a higher level of dying that permits more stable burns at higher speeds. So, I use +R or at present, I'm in the market for -R AZO media - except for Ritek at $0.89 ea for +R media generally minus media is much cheaper. Who knows maybe a "restore" will solve his problem, if not - well we’ve given something else to think about - Chat with you later, "P" _X_X_X_X_X_[small]The “old man” Pete (ö¿ô) Compaq 8000, Pent 4 CPU 2.84GHz, 1GB RAM. 340GB HD, 7200 (Maxtor 120, Western 200 & 20. 4 Drives, JLMS DVD ROM, HP DVD Writer 200j, Nec 4X DVD RW ND-1300A & AXV CD/DVD-ROM. cheers once again for all your replies guys. i tried instead of using DVD-VIDEO, UDF/ISO (as chris mccann instructs in his guide to nero) in nero and the disc was burnt and played in my DVD player, the only thing is that all the chapters no longer remain when you skip through the DVD and the film is split up into the number of VTS files that you generate in shrink instead, which makes it awkward to skip through the film, a menu comes up at the start aswell listing all the VTS files that you can click on and select. Is this supposed to happen? i'll try uninstalling roxio and try burning again using DVD-VIDEO.
