okay so i have windows media player installed and real one and powerdvd. so i went to play a avi file and it appeared just how windows does when its in safe mode, (minimal colour, choppy edges etc) so i corrected the problem by unticking use overlays. so now i can watch avi's fine. but dvds still play looking like the player is in safe mode. even when i untick use overlays for the dvd option.

    please help, thanks in advance
