I need help here, I have been trying to figure this crap out and I just cant seem to get the job done. I can't get a DVD not to skip, no matter what player (i have used windvd and theater tek) or card ( a asus 7600, or a 6800 gt). I have this set up in a media center PC silverstone box, and run the Video and Audio through a Sony A/V receiver that outputs the signal in 1080i. I know the receiver is not the problem, because the desktop does not flicker, only dvd/video file playback. The skip is not like a scratch disc skip, but more like the system is slogged down and can't handle the playback. The PC is a AMD 64 X2 with 2 gb of ram, and it's a brand new install on MCE rollup 2. I have tried uninstalling the dvd players, the sound card (which is a b-enspire sound card with S/PDIF out) drivers, and totally new connections (like switching between HDMI, DVI, and Composite connections). I have no idea why it is doing this, this is my first problem with a PC with DVD playback. Any thoughts on the problem, please help me out ASAP.

Try setting the burn level to 2 or 2.4, the lower the better and if you are putting any type of label on the disk that will also affect it. good luck

It doesn't matter if it is burnt, original, or an image, they all skip. Do you think it could be a decoder problem (maybe even a DTS decoder)?

Try using a different dvd burner and make sure you are using good media ie tdk or verbatim , I had a similiar problem with a lg burner and cheap disks , now use a sony burner and problem only happens rarely when I am using el cheapo disks

Try this recipe: (But its for Movie Only)

    1. Use latest DVD Fab, I think its the Beta One.
    2. Load in the DVD
    3. Select Movie Only
    4. Uncheck Subpicture content (so u wont get subtitles)
    5. Use DVD 5 Pulldown
    6. Start
    7. It will then prompt u and insert a blank DVD after 30-35 min
    8. It will burn at 4x by default so thats good

-This method worked because it did not burn too the edge of the Disc.
    -Also it burned at 4x
-Use DVD-R Vertab Blanks (Good Quality, Purple Label)

And now your drawbacks: U will not get a Menu, Chapters, Etc.
but you will get good quality picture.
