I hope you can help me. I have a TSST Corp (Samsung?) TS-H552B CD/DVDW in my computer. I run Windows XP (home edition). Up until a few months ago it was running fine, however now it won't read game DVD's (it reads movie DVD's just fine, as well as read regular CD's, and also burns CD-R's just fine). We plugged the CD/DVD into another system and it runs perfectly - can read the game DVD's just fine so we know it's NOT the actual hardware. The computer tech said it is most likely a driver issue. I read in another thread on here that the Windows XP service pack 2 was causing other problems with drivers - could this also be an inssue related with that service pack? Also, how do I go about getting my CD/DVDW back to top working condition? (Please don't tell me I will have to reformat!! It took me 4 days to get everything back on the computer from the last time.)

BTW, we tried calling the computer company's tech support - they were of little help. They couldn't answer one question right. It was quite sad actually. The only thing they suggested we do was delete the driver, reboot the system and let Windows reinstall the driver upon reboot, which we did, and it didn't help. They seemed more interested in what game we were trying to read than the fact that the drive wasn't working.

And yes, the speed of the CD/DVDW does meet the requirements of the game, as well as the other specs of the computer vs. the game requirements.

HELP!! I really would like to get this working - I have an expansion pack sitting here that needs to be installed and the DVDW won't read it.

    Thank you.

Well, now an addendum... I went to the website for the Samsung company and found a 'driver update' for the TS-H552B, so downloaded and installed... now my CD/DVDW is not working at ALL. I cannot even get the door to open ... now what?

At this point I think I'd rather the previous defective driver than this POS that won't even let me open it!! I have even gone in to My Computer/CD Drive and tried to open it that way, and still no luck. HELP.
