Hi, I just bought the so called great deal on 321 Studios and I have yet to make a backup of a DVD, At first they were responding to my emails with basic things to check but last 2 days haven't heard anything. My machine is 750mhz , 512mb memory, 120gig dedicated HD. I install the software, reboot machine and place dvd into there 99.00 drive and give it time to have windvd pop up, I close this software down and start up dvdxcopy and it spins up the drive and comes up with what dvd is n the drive sometimes, sometimes it doesn't recognize the dvd. Once it does recognize it I chose to copy now to the 120gig HD and it begins but only gets a little ways and then computer either locks up or it comes back with errors, I have tried xpress and get the same type of crap. Please if someone can help me.

Thanks for the link, I will look at it, one thing I do notice is since I am a newbie, I hope this forum is for dvd+rw drives and information. If you could please verify that this is the case, I will feel much better. I am a newbie that wants to do things right :)

I believe that this forum is for DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW or DVD-RAM drives (basically and DVD burning drive). This is pretty much for any problems or questions you have when the software manufacturer doesn't know or doesn't care what's going on. I am having problems w/ DVDXCopyXpress and Nero Xpress. I unfortunately purchased the DVDXCopyGold and I cannot get it to function properly. Shrink is highly recommended to rip the DVD's onto the PC and burning it to disk w/ Nero. I am using Nero Express and am having errors at the very end when it tries to verify the data. Hope this helps.

Thanks much for the information about shrink and nero. Nero 5.5 came with the drive from 321 Studios. I downloaded shrink and installed it and put in an original dvd and ran program, I then ran nero and chose the option I beleive to be needed and after about 40 min it said it was done. I can play the copy on my computer but it is not recognized on my ps2 or my dvd player, is there something else I need to do in order for the backup to work on ps2 and home dvd player. Any information would be appreciated. I have come to realize that dvdxcopy is garbage, something free online works but something I pay 99.00 don't work. They gave me a million different things that they say on my computer could be the problem, but I think there software has problems.

Let me clear something up, I am not trying to play copied ps2 games, I am trying to figure out how to get a back up of a dvd to play in either a ps2 or a dvd player (home). I make a backup of the dvd and it will play in dvd player on computer but isn't recognized in my ps2 or dvd (home) player. Any information would be great. Also just a reminder DVDXCOPY is garbage in my opinion, only thing good is the 99.00 dvd player. The software still won't work for me and I download free software that someone suggested in earlier thread and walla, it works, now just gotta figure out what software is needed so they will play in home dvd player or ps2.

What program are you actually using to burn the DVD's and what format are you using (+/-)? Do you know if there is any firmware that you need for the burner or have you tried different media? DVD-R is supposedly the most compatible format for home DVD players.

What version of PS2 have you got. Version before 4 will not play +R discs, but will play -R!

How do I find out what version PS2 I have. I am using shrink and then nero to burn the back up. Is this perhaps why the PS2 and Home DVD don't recognize it? Is there a special format or option I must use so the dvd players see the disk. On my computer I use windvd and it play just fine. Any info would be helpful. If dvdxcopy worked the way they say it does I would not be posting this message.

I am using a 4x burner that I bought from 321 Studios, It is a +R drive. Not sure if it will play -R disks or not, but I am making backups using TDK DVD +RW disks. I am using shrink and Nero 5.5, I copy the files onto hard drive and then I use the nero to copy files onto dvd. I have dvdxcopy GOLD but I haven't been able to get it to work. :(

    For newbinanz,
I've been burning DVDs for over a year now. I've used most of the free programs, and some of the not-so-free programs. Anyway, DVD X Copy is probably the best software i've come across for this task. However, I did make my share of "coasters" during the learning curve with X copy. I have a couple of suggestions that I hope will be useful. First, unless your DVD burner instructions say differently, make sure it's installed as a "secondary master" and the jumper is set accordingly. Second, review the list of incompatable programs that interfere with DVD X Copy and make sure that you remove anything that's on the list. Do not run any other programs during the copy/burn process. This includes the virus scanner. Last, surely you must know that not all stand alone dvd players will play burned dvds. Most home dvd players made in the last year or so will generally play burned dvds. But players over 2 years old tend to be less cooperative. There is a fairly comprehensive list of compatable dvd players at http://www.meritline.com/dvdvdplusrwa.html
I hope something here is of use to you.

It hasn't been lazy software for me, all it has done is piss me off, I have yet to get it to work. I tried placing the dvd burner on secondary slave as the guy in this thread mentioned and I have verified I have none of the conflicting programs and I don't run a virus program and it still fails, I have tried express and regular way and still nothing. 321 Studios sent me an email and just said they are having difficulties. I plan on just selling the software on ebay, I will start it at .01 and see where it goes. I seem to be able to make them with free software that kind people have told me about. I do have one question, I have a few dvd-9 disc and I can't seem to copy them, is there something special I gotta do.

DVDXCopy has always been rubbish in whatever versions...

Because they make it an all in one software they set restrictions (although US goverment wouldn't let them release software w/out) which incl. nuisance warning screen...making it awkward to copy a back up done with the software etc etc

Also to mastaprk , use Nero Burning Rom m8 (instead of Nero Xpress). Any problems when using Burning Rom version , just holla !

As Herbsman says, use the Burning ROM over the Xpress as it is a cut down piece of crap. Also, burn the files inside a VIDEO_TS folder and burn as DVD ROM UDF/ISO

I clicked on the Nero Rom link that he listed and when it was downloading onto my computer my virus software engaged and said a virus was dectected. You might want to try it out yourself. Thought I would mention this. I use nero 5.5 does 6.0 work okie or should I stick with 5.5
