I have been copying DVD movies for a while with no problems. XPsp2, nforce 4 ultra chipset, dvdxcopy 4.0.3.8,plenty of hard drivr space (800Gb) nu ddw-082 burner, ritek 8x +r media. I have now made 12 coasters in a row using the same DVD's I've always used. The problem is that during the write using dvdxcopy, at 12% the DVD spins up loudly, then says finalizing (but never actually finalizes-just says its finalizing) Burner blinks red light and I have to end task and restart to get the spent DVD out. I used DVDshrink and then burned with Nero and at 10% nero failed as well. I tried burner upgrades, cleaning out msconfig (nothing loading at startup), stopped all services, remove all spyware...i'm baffled. I don't know if its a burner problem or a windows problem. A friend had the same problem 6 months ago and somehow things just started working again. Anyone have any suggestions- all my research doing countless google searches has gotten me nowhere. DVDxcopy log does not even mention the word failuure. Anyone, please help!!!!

    Is it the same movie?

Have you downloaded the 21 day free trial of AnyDVD and use in the background?

You mention its the same media, is it from the same spool or the same media from a different spool?

Can you try a piece of media from a friend that is different from yours?

    Hi
well, I got the same problem 2 days ago. I was copying and at the point where my dvd drive was burning the dvd, it started making vibrating noises. I through away the blank DVD and after 2 tries, I manged to use one that did not made my burner do these weird noises. At first I thought that my burner was damaged or something. I now think that it had to do with the blank DVD. It probably had defects. Often in the DVD spindles that I buy, I would say that 5 to 15% do not work well.

    1) AnyDVD will not help with finalization errors.

    2) You need to post XCopy questions in the XCopy forum (duh) http://dvdxcopy.afterdawn.com

    3) Have you tried searching?

    4) Have you tried installing an aspi layer?
