I'm thinking of reformating my hard drive but I'm concern that I'll lose my DVDXCopy 4.0.3.8 , is there away to save the current files on my computer or find in Windows Temp files the actual upgrade file so I can keep my software the way it is or am I out of luck should I reformat and have to install and activate the software on-line and stay with my original 3.1.0?

Well you'll lose it, but you can get v4.0.3.8 here:
    http://www.nycsoftware.com/dvdxcopy/support/ , hopefully you've got activations left.

But you really should get Platinum RF and 321rip. Platinum RF is the most current, and the browse button works, so you can burn video_ts files that are saved on your HD. And with 321rip, it makes RF a ripper version again :)

If you haven't done so already. E-mail support@321studios.com, give them your current license and password, [bold]and ask them to issue you a new ripper free license[/bold]. The should issue you a new license(should be the same password), reset your activations to 10, and allow you to download Platinum RF.

I'm pretty sure I only used one activation. Getting the RF version does that mean I lose my non-rf?

    Agent0008,

Did you sent both your license and password? Also you need to ask them to issue you a new ripper free license. I've also heard if you've changed your password yourself, that's the password you'll need to provide.

    Agent0008,
Some of the people posting on that forum have asked for the RF version and Customer Support (in a form letter) has told them we offer no support for that product and are not sending them any activation codes.
Suggest you go to Plan B and start using Shrink and DVDDecrypter.
The problem w/ 321 is that they tell you one thing and then 6 weeks later they change their minds. This could be because they lost the lawsuit and will eventually close and they are trying to conserve assets.

One other thing you could do is use a Ghost program to image the HD. If your version works now then in theory it should work after you ghost the HD. As a backup I would make sure that I backed up my registry. If you activate 321's products by using the "another computer option" it gives you a file to install and guess where that file goes.

I've sent 2 emails recieved 2 form type letters. It's like no one read my request for a new Rf license id#.That kinda S**T upsets me.I paid $100.00 for that program. The least they could do is read the damn email and say NO! if that's the answer of course then they'll need to tell me why not:) I already have decrypter & shrink but my dvdxcopy works & the xpress does'nt I can't remove xpress without taking dvdxcopy with it since it's in the xcopy gold folder.I'd have to remove both far as I know.

Hey guys, weird thing. I uninstalled & reinstalled my dvdxcopy gold for the third time except this time I did not update to version 3.0.4 just left it the way it came on the cd and it reinstalled without needing to be activated. I burned a copy of City Hall that I had not opened before today. It worked perfectly the backup is flawless no more css protected error. I wonder if the update some how was the problem. I used the copy entire disc mode in xpress and it only took about 40 minutes from start to finish.I still want my RF though:) never know when this will go south. I haven't tried the dvdxcopy part yet. Will let you know if it still functions.I had purchased the program the day after the ruling on Feb 20th.So maybe the update had somehow nuetered my program. But then that does'nt explain why dvdxcopy worked & xpress did'nt.Oh well enough rambling on.I'm going to bed.BTW I did the install while offline. hope it helps somebody with this problem.

Finaly I`ve found an activating "patch" for DVDXCopy Platinum4.0.3.8 and it works. Tried it myself. I used a search tool from my PC so I do not know from which site the "patch" is from but I have it saved on my PC.

While I appreciate the forum rules and have no intention of soliciting piracy I`ve just seen that part of my last post in this thread was removed.
This part was meant to help the legitimate owners of Platinum with reactivating their product should they run out of activations and 321 studios is not around to help them anymore. We`ve all paid for Platinum and wouldn`t want to be left with an obsolete software.

321studios will answer your request, if they already havent. Be certain and send them your license id and password along with you name, address. They will in turn send you new information to DL the RF version. your old Platinum id and password will work.

I have to disagree with the editing of Yodans Post as 321 Studios has shut down operations completly. The Stuck us all with software that we can no longer re-activate. The SCREWED US ALL they left with all the MONEY in their FAT little pockets. So FU to Mr. Moore who ended up being just as bad as the ENRON THEIVES! Post the patch let there be SOME JUSTICE!

Yordan, thanks for your attempted post; however discretion is the better part of valor, they say. There are certain entrepreneurial entities that would like to disband this board entirely under the mistaken belief they would be protecting their interest at the expense of First Amendment and consumer rights.

My DVD library is kept in a cool, dry place. When I go out of town or let children watch and rewatch a popular movie (how many times can they watch Harry Potter???) or when my DVD might be exposed to excessive heat, I use tools that protect my consumer interest. And, if for no other reason, some tools that exist and are available give consumers the chance to remove the advertisements and menus and get right to the movie without having to stare at an FBI screen for 20 seconds.

    Jay

I do appreciate your support as we`re all in the same boat and yes, looks like Private Messaging is the way to go about stuff like this if we don`t want to upset the watchers...

    @Yordan,

It has nothing to do with watchers. It's the forum rules :)

    Towerjock,

I don't know about you, but my activations were reset to [bold]75[/bold]. You can still activate.

    This was posted: 8-3-04 @ http://mrguinness.proboards15.com/index.cgi

[bold]As of today you can activate online and if you choose activate from another computer you can put the activation file on a floppy. Do this for all ye product and get several activations and rename them so you can save them on the same media. It appears that they gave us up to 75 activations today but you should be able to clone the same activation. This way if you format you can still activate. but you better activate today if you want to use it. [/bold]

[bold]IT HAS TO BE CLEAN INSTALL OF PLATINUM..
WHEN THE REGISTRATION WINDOW COME UP ASKING FOR YE LICENSE AND PASSWORD YE SELECT REGISTER FROM ANOTHER PUTER..

NOTE YOU MUST INPUT YOUR LICENSE AND PASSWORD THEN SELECT REGISTER FROM ANOTHER PUTER,THEN FOLLOW DIRECTIONS [/bold]
