Hello All. I was using an upgrade version of DVDXCopy (from about 1.5 yrs ago) and everything was working great. I recently had a motherboard failure and had to reformat my harddrives. Reloaded Win XP-SP1 and all of my software. Problem is that I never backed up Xcopy so I had to reinstall version 1.2.2. I am using exactly the same versions of the same programs (except Xcopy) and the same hardware (except mobo). I have only made one copy (2 dvd-r's) and noticed several problems. I now have options for Gear or Nero which I never saw on the other version of Xcopy that I was using. If I try to use Nero engine, I cannot burn due to some type of failure (can't remember what dialog box says- even upgraded to latest Nero with same problem) and if I use the gear option, the only disc I have backed up will not play the #2 disc in any player (coincedence maybe?). I am using an AMD2700 w/liquid cooling and 512 Mushkin DDR400 memory and my DVD burner is a Sony DRU-500AX. I am still using Nero v.5.5.3.1 which I was previously using. I also use Memorex 4x dvd-r's which have never been a problem. I always copy/burn by shutting everything down in the background and have never encountered a problem. If somebody could shed some light on why I now have this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any responses.
The problem is, Nero doesnt have a ripping or decrypting engine built in. Most Hollywood DVD's are css encrypted. Therefore, you'll need either DVDXcopy software or you can get DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink. Both are free, they will do the job Decryptor to rip and Shrink to burn. BTW Shrink uses the Nero burning engine, so u may want to keep Nero. PM me with your Instant Messenger address if you would like a replacement copy of the version that you lost.
321sucker, Thanks very much for your response. I am currently using DVDXCopy v.1.2.2 which gave me the problems I had described in my post. However, I must be a moron because I was running a raid setup and I formatted those drives but failed to remember that I had backed up most .exe files to a 3rd drive in my system (due to running raid) so I had the latest version of DVDXCopy on the 3rd drive and I have already reloaded it and life is good again. Thanks again for taking the time to respond- I really appreciate it.
The bottom line is to reslove the issue,, Congrats and NP. If you need Xcopy of DVD assistance, we're here.
