I have an original version of dvdxcopy (version 1) I understand that there is an upgrade so that I dont have to use two dvds to backup my dvds. Also It takes me about four hours using 4x media. Can anyone help. Thanks Fred
The best upgrade for DvdXcopy is called DVDShrink. If I understand correctly the new version of DvdXcopy does not have a decryptor included so you would have to download another program to get past the encryption on the disc. DvdShrink includes a Decryptor and best of all it is FREE. You can download it here http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm The guide for using it can be found here http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm You will need something to burn with so if you have Nero you can use that. If you do not have Nero or any other burning software you can download Dvd Decryptor here http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm With the guide for using it here http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/small_dvd_2_dvdr.cfm and use that to burn with. Both programs work very well and are FREE!
Four HOURS!!!!! Oh NO, you must check your DMA settings,, heres how.. Go to Device manager> IDE ATAPI controllers> Check the 1st and secondary IDE controller. One at a time, please. This is how. Double click the 1st IDE controller, now under the advanced tab, be sure the transfer mode is at DMA if available. If not, change it to that. Do the same for the 2nd controller. Then reboot. Now check and see that it took by going back into Device Manager. If this doesnt change the transfer mode to DMA, then you will have to uninstall the IDE controllers. Right click the IDE controller and left click uninstall. Also uninstall your burner using the same method, right click the burner and left click uninstall. You can do this for both. Then reboot. Xp will automatically reinstall them and this should fix the slow burn issue.
Thank you. I checked and they both had the DMA if available selected. I will uninstall my burner and reinstall it to see if it helps
Go to http://www.dvdrhelp.com and check the model number of your burner and find what the specs are, unless you already know.
yea 4 hours is a bit long. What is your system specs? And are you up to date with your burners firmware?
