ok, what is the difference between this firmware and the default firmware that the drive comes with? i have 4x memorex +r discs and just bought some 4x -r discs. will this firmware let me burn faster to these discs? if not, then wats the big deal? also.... how come alot of people buy more than one of these drives? isnt one enuf? i dont get it?!? lol please let me know thanks
No risks at all really, you can always go back to the offical fimware if you want too. Also you need to have your dive a drive letter g: . That is the only real thing you need to do.
woah woah woah... what do you mean? i need to change my floppy drive a to a different drive letter? like g? please let me know... thanks
Here ya go: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307844 It voids your warranty by using hacked Firmware
Hi guys Updated My Drive with the New Fimware and changing My Drive to G: Anyway If I change my drive back to where it was lets say for e.g Letter F: will that effect the instalation of the firmware I mean will it keep the Installed Firmware? or will it get deleated? thanks
Change it to what ever drive letter you need. the firmware is on the drive. You only needed to change it to do the install, now you cna change it back no problems.
When I installed the hacked firmware on my 107 I didn't have to change the drive letter. I just right clicked on the program and selected properties. I then changed the "G" to "F" and clicked on "APPLY" and that changed the program to work on drive "F". This seemed easier than changing my drive letter. In fact the instructions said to do this if your drive wasn't "G". Do whatever works, I guess.
Has anybody had any problems using the hacked firmware on the pioneer 107? I bought one today and installed the hacked firmware and then burned a 4xspeed Ritek at 8xspeed. I have to say i am very impressed so far as the quality of the movie was excellent. I even ripped the movie at 7.8xspeed. Wow. What worries me is that I have just heard of somebody who put the hacked firmware in and it worked fine for 2 weeks and then went tits up and now it won't wite at all.
I did not think this drive would be very popular without this hack - 5 chances only with different region dvd's before wam your stuck on the last region... put me off buying it when I first read that... and now with Sony and a few others a month or two away from releasing their dual layer DVD burners... 8.5GB storage... I might hold off a bit longer So have any of you killed a drive by having this firmware fail during upload? (Ps 1000 dvds - you must be into something naughty)
No drive failures. And I produce dvd's s for local bands , schools , produce learing/teaching etc. That is how I am into the 1000's of discs.
I have a Pioneer 106, does this apply to me? can I upgrade the firmware to pioneer 107? came in late and missed the general flow
You can't change your 106 to a 107, but you can apply hacked 106 firmware which will unlock the 2x rip speed and make the drive region free. I now get up to 12x rip speed with my 106D depending on the type original dvd. Jerry
thanks,I have downloaded the 106 hacked firmware, but was unsure whether to use it, Do I have to change my drive to G as you have been talking about with the 107?
I don't remember that I changed the drive letter. I did disconnect my other burner from the system until I flashed the Pioneer. I didn't want the wrong firmware on the wrong drive. There might be a text file with the firmware download. I think if the drive letters don't match it will just say target not found. Jerry
