Updated firmware, tried all 3 current versions (BCDB, BGGB, BCHB). Set on Master on the Primary IDE Channel, using standard Microsoft IDE drivers. DMA enabled. Also, this thing is brand new, less than a week old.

I can't read any of my Maxell DVD-RWs (burned or blank), or my burned Memorex DVD-R. Reads and burns CD's just fine. Any ideas?

Will it read an original Dvd?

Was it doing this before you did the f/w update?

Where do you have your hard drive? The hard drive should be the Master on the Primary Channel and the DVD the Master on the Secondary.

If that's the case you may want to return or exchange it for another.I could see f/w being the problem if it was just with the Maxells but if it's not reading originals it's most likely a problem with the unit itself.

I myself would not recommend using the Maxell media but thats a personal choice.Only Ty's and Verbatim for me!

    Best of luck.

HDD is on the SATA line, which is the 3rd channel on my mobo, I believe.

OK. I agree with Boxwrench, return the drive as defective.
