Hi. I'm planning on purchasing a DVD burner. Most dvd-burners in the market support E-IDE/ATAPI interface. My motherboard is preety old.. So I was wondering is there a way for me to check if my motherboard supports E-IDE/ATAPI drives? Or can I just plug in an E-IDE/ATAPI drive into a normal IDE/ATA interface? Please, reply soon as possible.
what is the specs on your computer plus windows version? what is the make & model# of the computer or motherboard?
Hey, DDP. I'm running a: AMD Athalon XP 1800+ at 1.8 GHz 512 MB Ram 32 MB nVidia Geforce2 Onboard Windows: Windows XP,2002, Home Edition Service Pack 1 Mainboard Specs (SiSandra Test) MicroStar International CO. Model: MS-6367 -HP Pavilion 04, Model: P9828A-ABA 952X
So it supports an E-IDE/ATAPI drive? So, basically I cant' plug in a E-IDE/ATAPI drive into a normal IDE/ATA interface? Can you also tell me the difference betwenn ATAPI &ATA? Thanks, DDP.
yes you can plug in a E-IDE/ATAPI drive into a normal IDE/ATA interface!! the e for e-ide stands for enhanced. atapi is to do with rom drives as in burners & readers.
ddp is on track with the up the ram suggestion. Some drives require 512 as a minimum to operate properly. They will operate on less, just make the system slower. This is what my LG system specs says are minimum.
