First: I have tried almost all of DVD-authoring software offering trial versions on the market and still haven't found what I am looking for. Hi, I am looking for a simple DVD-authoring program that does the following: I have a lot of short movies from fellow students on DVD or miniDVD. Some of them have subtitles or/and 2 audiotracks. I want to create a single DVD with a combination of short movies that will still have the subtitles and at least 2 language tracks after importing. I want to create a simple menu that lets you choose the movie you want to see. Sounds simple? Isn't, because I have not found an affordable program that imports 2 audio streams aswell as subtitles. I think you might be able to do what you want with dvd shrink... but not the menu part. You can keep subtitles etc and audio streams... obviously you have to have a way of switching between what you want on your dvd player though.. mine does this. Can't help you with the menu side of it though, sorry. Hope that was some help to you?
Actually I tried DVDshrink already and it seems to be the only software that lets you keep all desired audiotracks and subtitles. I think it is quite surprising that the only software on the market with these features is freeware. Unfortunately it cannot create even a simple menu. There is a way that I know of but it is very labor intensive and I will have to find it on the web. I think it is on doom9.com's forums somewhere. If you are talking about, say, authoring an .ogg or mkv file that has subtitles, this method allows you to take the softsubtitles and turn them to hard subs, and put them on the video file permentantly. When dealing with dual audio, I never bother with anything other than the feature's original language. If you are interested, please let me know and I will be happy to help. BTW I forgot to mention that all of the software involved in putting softsubs to hardsubs is free. Burning them to dvd is up to you. I like nero to burn, but it doesn't support anything over HD480p (which is a problem for me), but there are so many other good ones. Ulead DVD studio is a great authoring program imho and has a lot more depth to it than nerovision. Chris
Thanx for your replies. Creating hardsubs sounds interesting but I have quite a few films that have german an french subtitles aswell as german and french audio. I want to keep both.
