OK i had a thread in here about a S.M.A.R.T. errror i had on a two year old HDD, I bought a new HDD. (i assumed no one answered me becasue my drive was spent)

During instalation of new HDD, operating system would not let me install because it did not reconize that there was a drive there.

Bios was originally set up for RAID (know nothing about) and bios was also shadowed (also know nothing about)

My solution was to go into bios and change settings to IDE on new drive. It let me install operating sys, everything is working okay,

I tried 2 programs to monitor HDD temp and both of them came back NA, I assume it is because the drive was originally supposed to be in RAID not in IDE.

will putting it back to RAID fix it ?
and the little bit i read from half a*%ed info was that raid makes drive run faster for better speeds but also makes it hot?
which is better in a hot system RAID or IDE ?
