Suggestion 1: Edit and Preview in PM

I'd say we could do without preview, but we definitely need edit in PM. There have been so many times I've misspelled something or stated some things incorrectly and it cause a complete catastrophe. Don't know about everyone else but I'm in desperate need of edit in PM...please.

Suggestion/Question 2: Text Hyperlinks in Our Signatures

It's been a while now since the improvement with links was established so, I'm wondering what happen to the text links in sigs? I think it's being worked on(is it?), but when will we get to enjoy the pretty links (Pretty Link) in our sigs? I've always thought full address' look unorganized and the 'pretty links' look so much cleaner and crisp. I've been wanting to add some links to my sig, but I'm turned away from the length and ugliness of the full address'. But maybe I'm just being picky...

i don't like the sound of 'pretty links' in sigs, at all, it would lead to much more abuse of signatures/pimping other sites etc, which is already a real headache due to the freeform nature of signatures

How would it be different than it is now? A link is a link, right? I'd just like to have the choice to make the links organized. I mean people are going to abuse them anyway, so why not allow it to be used as a choice.

...because the 'pretty links' will be less obvious and we'd have to go look thru them to see the abuse.

i hate disagreeing with things that might otherwise be better for others, but infortunately the few out there who insist on abusing things always spoil stuff for the many.

ireland, what do you mean? I have no problem deleting my PM's. :) Or do you mean just single posts in a PM...?

read this..as this is what it says when ye delete a pm...

Are you sure you would like to delete this private discussion thread?
If you do so, there's currently no way for you to get it back. But the message thread or the messages in the thread don't actually get deleted, but the other party in this discussion thread has still a full access to this thread (unless he/she has deleted it as well) and by replying to this thread, the other user can "activate" the thread for you as well.

So, consider the deletion to be a method of keeping your PM inbox clean and nice, not a method of destroying evidence ;-)

do ye ever thinkl who can read your pm's?

    mods can't!!!!!!!

    Umm, the responder and respond-ee...?

So when you delete a PM you want it removed from the other person Inbox also...? Sorry mate, but you're confusing me.

did ye read what i posted above, the pm is only deleted on the deleter's side.

when i delete a pm i sent,i want it to be history on both sides,
meaning the sender and receiver of the message......

lol, yes I read your post like 4 times and that's what I was asking. Now that you explain it that way ^ I see what you mean, but I would consider that a privacy issue. I wouldn't want a message deleted from my Inbox without my permission. But then we get into personal opinions...

So, how about that edit or preview...please. :p

you can not edit a message you send in a pm and also you will not see what ye sented uptil the message is replied to..
    meaning answered..

i agree the message should be able to be edit..also it has to be accessed to be able to be edited said message.....and also you should be able to do a total delete of ye pm's you sent..at lease twice a year..
meaning no record (Evidence} on either side...

    @Ireland
i agree with you about being able to do a total deletion of a Pm, but what about say you sent me a guide or a link to something that helps me out. then you delete it on your end and it is gone on my end also. now i dont have the information you gave me in that PM. what about that?
now maybe say you told me you wanted it deleted i could copy the info before you do the total deletion ...???? just another way to look at it...

ireland: Consider PMs as a form of an email -- when you send an email, you lose control over it, as it is already on its way and therefor can't be edited afterwards and you can't delete it after you've hit "Send".

Furthermore, about the reading rights, you're right, mods can't read people's PMs. Staff members can't either, but admins can if they want to. This is done simply to have a solid ground if there ever arises a situation where we're attacked legally about something users have done via their PMs -- such claims can arise years after and therefor we must have the PMs stored.

To answer the original request by Niobis, we have plans to add preview functionality for the PMs and yes, the new tag format should be allowed on sigs early next year or so, depending on the status of our other projects.

Ah ha, now I see why we can't edit. Just didn't think about that. I guess I will just have to be more careful when sending PMs.

    Terrific! Can't wait. :)

    Much appreciated, thank you!
