What I have is a video of my sons football games and of course there are lots of people saying things and cheering. I want to take out some of the talking that people are doing, i.e. (bad comments) that was picked up while filming. Since I'm new at this I need to know what program to use and the steps that I need to take to do this. I have uploaded (through dv and firewire card) and edited the video in Nero Vision Express 3 and done all my changes to the video, now the audio needs to be taken care of. I have Nero software and all of its other programs that comes with Nero 6 but which one do I use to make the audio changes and how?

This is an on going project for me, and would like to have it finished prior to the end of the season for the children on the team.

Did you use MiniDV or DVD-Ram/RW as a recording media?

Now I have figured out how to copy the audio from my vido and also pull it back up in the Nero Wave Editor, but once I do it, I don't hear the sound. I checked to make sure the volumn was turned up and it was. I can play other sounds through it, but the one I pulled from my video don't have any sound. Why? I'm sure once I figure that out I will figure out how to edit the voices out.

    Please help.

ok, so I thought I figured out how to get the audio out of the video, but it turns out it was all blank (no sound), so I'm stuck. I have taken video of my sons football game and want to edit out people talking and comments through out the video. I have captured the video to my hard drive. I'm currently working with Nero's programs, please help me out on what I need to do in order to accomplish my newest tasks. I do research and have read many of things but I have not found a qestion asking how to take the audio out or edit voices from a home movie.

    Thanks Penny

Sorry didn't see the question until I sent the last message. My media I'm using is Sony DVD+RW. What does this have to do with wanting to edit my audio when it is still on my hard drive at this point? I'm waiting to burn the project until I completly have it finished, that is if it is possible for me to edit the voices out.

    preenee,
Nero Express would not be my first or second choice in creating a DVD Movie. I would use something like Ulead Video Studio 9 or Vegas (not sure what number they are up to) and other Non Linear Based Editing programs.

What editing program came with the camera?

Either of the above is capable of 1. editng your video(cut this out here insert that there) inserting transitions etc... 2. grab the audio stream and edit it, understand you will need to insert blank periods of nothing, this will ensure that the audio is in sync. There are a few differnt things you could do, you could also leave the audio as is, insert a music track and move the volume up and down as to block out what you don't want to hear. You are lilimited only by your imagination.

Others may say something else, but if you want dead silence in your movie then someone will know how to remove the audio bits in say Nero Wave editor.

I think diablos wanted to know waht audio stream you have to work with, hence his question.

I didn't have a software that came with the camera. My Nero software came with my external DVD burner. Other than that I don't have any other software on the computer capable of burning or doing any movies at all except what comes with the Windows software.

I don't want silence in the video nor do I want to put in music in bits of the video of a football game. So I guess what I want to know is how to capture the audio out of the video in order to put it in the Nero wave editor in order to remove the audio bits. Time does not matter for me. As it is I'm sitting here several hours out of the day working on this project to make it what I want it to be.

Thanks for your assistance I just hope someone else can help me out also.

I wanted to know if it was possible to separate the audio digitaly. DVD Decrypter should be able to extract the audio from the video (if the files are legit VOB files). After that you can use a wav editor. I like to use the moive software that comes with winodws XP.

    --------------------

    Winodws Movie Maker 2:

    DVD Decrypter:

    --------------------

If DVD Decrypter doesn't work then you will have to do it the analog way:

In this guide I use Jet Audio 6 to record. I recommend [bold]Audacity[/bold] (freeware) or better for editting.

    preenee,
Ok I don't really get what your saying, but.... if you edit the audio, what are you going to do when you edit it??, if you take the undesirable talking out you will need to replace it with something (of the exact length)otherwise the audio will not be in sync with the video. Do you undestand what it is I am saying?

You really need one of the programs I described earlier.

By and by, I'm pretty sure that what you have done so far in Nero Express is a waste of time as it is probably (someone help me out here) saved as a Nero Vision Express project file, it can only be toyed with in Nero Vision Express.

    Good luck

Thats true. The cool thing to do would be to add some background music. You know, something that keeps everyones attention and adds to the video. I would just mute the parts that you find undesirable.
