editing in MPEG2, Adobe Premiere

    I was wondering if anyone has any insight on editing video in the MPEG2 format. Will Adobe Premiere edit in this format? Maybe a more direct question as applicable to my situation...I just ordered a Hauppauge PVR-150 to capture Hi8 video. When I capture using this card, will the data be in a format that will allow editing with Adobe? Any help is appreciated.

    Well Yes you can edit Mpeg-2 with Adobe Premier pro but you wouldn"t want to because to render your edited Project it has to re-encode the File which will Have a Negitive Impact on the Qyality of the Video and will Take quite a Long time....

    If you were to install the "MainConcept Mpeg Pro HD" Plugin for Premier then you could do Native Mpeg editing in Premier which means that it would not re-encode the whole File and you wouldn"t loose Quality when editing and it would only take a few minutes to render your Project as Opposed to many hours without the Plugin......

    An other Option would be to use an actual Native Mpeg editor like "Womble Mpeg Video Wizard 2005" which will allow you to do Native Lossless editing and add effect and Transitions without re-encodeing the whole file and Lowering the Quality....If you have to do Just Basic Editing like Cutting out Comercials and Joining of Files then a More Basic Native Mpeg editor like "Womble Mpeg2VCR" would be better....

    Hi, I am new in the page and editing video, my first doubt is what Adobe Ver is better to use, if Adobe Pro 7.0 or Adobe Pro 1.5.

    Adobe Premier Pro 1.5 is better because it is the Newest version....

    Hm, strange lower number , newer veresion ;)
    I have some problems with Adobe premiere 7.0 and Boris RED 1.5, actualy when I install RED there is no so called "3rd part efect" on efect menu , it'sa without name and when I add red efect to timeline, I can't change with other RED efect when I duble click on transition, no RED soft open, with ver. premiere 6.0 was all OK.
    What is wrong ?

    I could tell you as I don"t use Boris Red with premier.....
