I've coverted my home video (video 8) to mpeg2 using Winpvr150. I now need to break that down into reasonable size files. Is there a good (ideally free) editor I can use. I also need to join some files where they are split over 2 tapes (now 2 mpeg files)

The one that comes with the PVR is not that accurate, it lets you select the individual frame to cut on, but when you actually generate the final cut its always a bit out, so its not very accurate.

    Cheers

VideoReDo. You'll probably get everything done during the trial period (you have to request a trial key).

TMPGEnc MPEG Editor allows you to do frame by frame editing of mpeg2. This program costs $59.95 but is worth every penny. This is the only tool I know that will let you edit out a single frame and not reencode the video. I use it all the time om my mpegs and can not imagine going back to the old way of converting to avi, using Virtualdub to take out the frames then reencoding to mpeg.
