I was wondering if theres an easy way to edit out "bad" scenes from a movie. What software would I use? Preferably free? Also, I was wondering if theres a way to do it without there being 15 seconds in between the movie starting back up again.

    Thanx.

for editing DVD's directly, the only program that I found that can do it without losing quality is videoredotvsuite (paid software), I use it to turn r-rated movies into pg movies, it is frame accurate and keeps the video/audio insync it is also very quick taking less than 20 minutes to save the changes sometimes quicker.

Avidemux is good for editing AVI (xvid divx) it is frame accurate, but when editing AVI you need to edit at particular frames otherwise you get artifacts. I tried using avidemux to edit mpegs but was getting too many audio sync problems. It's a good free program but has limitations in editing and has a minor learning curve.
