does anyone know of a program out there that will allowing editting of parts of an audio file. example-taking a audio song file and taking out the vocal parts to create an instrumental of the song? any help would be greatly appreciated
The only way to cut vocals (if located in the centre of the stereo image) is substracting left from right channel. You can do this with programs like Cool Edit, Nero Wave Editor IIRC, Audacity (free). Winamp Karaoke DSP plugins work similar. To seperate other parts of the sound that are not located in the centre, you can try to use some kind of equalizer/filter, but probably you won't like the result.
