i have been useing vso divx to dvd to convert avi's and then tmpgenc free trial to author and it works fine except for the watermark in the menu. When i try to use gui for dvdauthor to do it i get the following error message when trying to create dvd

ERR: SCR moves backwards, remultiplex input.

I think this happens because the time code of the .vob file is not continuous. What is the easiest way around this.

I have looked at other encoders such as Quenc but have no knowladge of AviSynth script or DGIndex. Is this complicated or not. Is there much difference in quality between vso and Quenc.

    Thanks for your help

You might be able to fix this by simply demuxing to separate video and audio files and using them to create your DVD from. DGIndex can demux and it's free (just load the file and select demux from the file menu).
I don't use QuEnc myself, but since it's considered a pretty good MPEG encoder I'd say it will give you better quality. How much difference you'll notice is a question that only you can answer. Another free encoder worth checking out is HC.

Of course with any manual method (ie separate encode/author steps) there will be at least a little more work on your part, as well as a steeper learning curve. Personally I think it's worth it, but there is no universal opinion.
