ok, i followed all the directions in the DVD-DivX guide, but for some reason instead of being encoded to 160 kbps the audio remains at 1411, even after I run it through CDex. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks for any help.

Get VirtualDub and a cracked mp3 codec. Install codec and then resave the avi and audio, but put the audio settings to what you want. (I haven't read the guide so I don't know what it says).
Important note: If video has already been Divxed than set under video settings "Direct stream copy" so that it won't re-process it.
