First off, I just want to thank everyone who reads Newbie cr@p (like this) and helps them out. What I want to do with some of my video files is to convert them to DVD format so I only need to drag and drop them into my Nero to burn them whenever I want and not have to wait to enocode them every time. I have tried some of the methods explained in the forum but they output the video file in a VIDEO_TS folder. I want my output to ONLY be ONE video file that I can simply drag and drop into Nero and burn it without having to wait again to re-enocde the files. So how do I do this? I have Nero 7 but I am willing to buy any software to make this possible. Thanks in advance.
It must be me, cause i am not sure i follow what you need. So let me try this , you encode a file then author it to generate your VOB files in a video_ts folder. The using Nero you burn these files onto DVD. What you want to achieve is every time you have a new MPEG file to encode and author it should save the VOB files in the same Video_ts folder? Is that the scenario?
I might be so far in left field that I might be confusing the members of the forum. Can you simply convert media into DVD format? (No TS AUDIO or TS VIDEO folders, just a new .mpg file) This way I can get rid of my Divx encoded files and just keep the DVD format files on my computer. I can play those files on my computer and when I want to burn them, I can just click and drag the files into Nero and burn them (kind of like making an audio cd and clicking and dragging .wav files into Nero and burning them) without and "new" encoding when I go to burn the files. I guess it would be safe to use this analogy: .mp3 --> .wav (Tim Mcgraw - My Best Friend.mp3 --> Tim Mcgraw - My Best Friend.wav) I want to convert all my mp3s into wavs and save them onto my HDD. Click and drag the .wav files whenever I want to listen to the songs in my car. divx --> dvd (Football Hits.divx.avi --> Football Hits.dvd.mpg) I want to convert all my videos into DVD format and save them onto my HDD. No TS Video folders! Then I want to be able to burn them without hassle (no more encoding, transcoding, etc). 1). Is this possible? 2). What programs do I need?
Cannot be done. DVD files are VOB files. If you look at any DVD disk you will find Video_ts and Audio_ts folders. The audio folder will be empty & the video one will have all the files. The mpg files are MPEG files, they have to be encoded to generate VOB files to be burnt onto DVD. Why don't you just generate diff named folder that hold your particular VOB files. An analogy fpr you : I have an SLR camers, I take pictures, but in order for me to view them on my computer, I must have them converted (encoded) to JPEG files or such that I can view, edit and use them on my computer with other software, or for that matter burn them to watch them as stills on my DVD player. There is no way for me to use my SLR film to view those pics on my computer. The developer will create a jpeg pics for me. I hope I make sense to you.
I dont want to beat a dead horse BUT... When I encode the videos using TMPGEnc they get outputted as .mpg, no lie, but they have no sound. Am I on to something, or am I just setting myself up for failure? Thanks so much for helping me out rjessa
I'm using TMPGEnc 3.0 Xpress, its made by PEGASYS. There is no stream on the bottom right side of the screen. What is DVD authoring? Can I take the .mpg file that TMPGEnc outputs and put them into Nero and burn them using <Burn DVD-Video Files>? ==================================================================== So here is what "I" think I can do. 1. Encode the Divx files into DVD .mpg using TMPGEnc. 2. Keep them on my HDD 3. When I want to watch the files on my DVD Player in the living room, I will use Nero to "Author" the DVD (Put them into the whole Video_TS and Audio_TS folders) 4. Burn the DVD. ***Will I have to re-encode the files or will the Authoring part be pretty short?
if u have nero ultra edition u can encode into dvd and it burns it all at once. thats what i do anyways
