Ok, I have several different files on my hard drive with the following extensions....avi,mpeg,wmv,mpg. My question is , I would like to burn them on a DVD so I can play those files on my dvd player.I would like to use nero. I also have, roxio, dvd shrink, dvd decrypter. Does anyone have some simple steps I can follow utilizing my nero? I tried using nero recode and made an ISO image file on my hard drive. What exactly is an ISO image file? I tried burning it,but it wont play on my dvd player. Thanks for your help.

use Nero Start Smart, go to DVD, Photo and Video, make your own video. It gives you the ooption of importing any supported type of video file. (this is in 6.3.2.5)

It would be a good idea not to have roxio installed whilst you use nero....they dont like each other

Thanks for your input. I will try that when I am home.If there are any step by step guides you know of that I can follow, please post it. I still would like to know if anyone can explain to me first off what is an ISO image file and how do I burn it to play correctly on a stand alone dvd player?

i might suggest that although you are using nero that you try another program as well.

vso divx to dvd will encode and re encode your avi/xvid /divx and also your mpeg1 or 2 files to the compatible mpeg2 format which is required for dvd .Then you can utlise nero as the burning agent and once burnt you will be able to view your dvd on both computer and standalone dvd player

Thanks andmerr. So I just run my files through vso divx to dvd and then open them up in nero. Will the files be merged or would every file be seperate? I would like for them to play consecutively without having to go to the menu and press play for every file. What would be the easiest and quickest way to burn them once they are encoded? thanks for your help.

Just to answer your ISO image question.

It is an exact copy (one to one) of a file system, basically a digital photgraph of the information.

Here's a link with some nice guides on aswell.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_image

And another piece of knowledge for you:
ISO is derived from the Greek isos, meaning 'equal'.

Big thanks to baabaa for the info on ISO files and the links. I found it very helpful. By the way,I successfully burned my first dvd from mpeg files!!! I used everyones advice and then just tried different methods. No coasters either because I used a dvd-rw! I used nerovision ,went to... make dvd and imported the mpeg files then burned them and it played. The only files it wouldnt burn was wmv files. Thanks again everyone.

When you use divx to dvd you can batch file them together and then use recode to merge them together

You will ned to get an wmv to mpeg 2 converter. Then you shouldnt have a prob and nero will also be able to burn them as well.

if this one isnt suitable just type wmv to mpeg 2 into google and you will be directed to a heap of sites with other equally good program converters on them
