lets try un-extracting the iso with winrar (http://www.rarlab.com/) and see if we get an error message

if you get an error message try repairing the achieve using winrar
    http://www.diskdatarecovery.net/repair-corrupt-rar-zip-archive

if it extracts fine then nero was just being picky, try burning it again with imgburn (http://www.imgburn.com/)

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/580060
follow steps 11-15 to burn the iso using imgburn

there is so much more we can do:)
    post back!

Thanks for your help , I followed your instructions I was able to burn it ok, but when I put the cd into the cd-rom drive all I got was the the winrar file Hutil, when I double clicked on the file I get three files
    Hutil exe application
    Hutil210.CFG file CFG
    run.bat MS-DOS batch file
can you please me tell how I can get this drive diognostic utility to work, I thought once I got the image file burned on to a cd and put it into the cd-rom drive it would run the utility

keep in mind that this program might not have an auto run feature, the program i listed above is the one you want to run
follow below to reburn it properly..
    ==============================

    download this one
Hutil 210 ISO (For CD ROM Drive).zip

    then unzip it
    [IMG]
    now you'll see this file
    [IMG]
you must rename that file Hutil210.iso
    [IMG]
if done correctly your file with winrar will look like this
    [IMG]

you then reburn this file to a cd with imgburn,

btw: what you were doing wrong was that you weren't burning the iso but a zip file:)

leave the disc in the drive, turn off your computer, turn on your computer and enter your bios and set it to boot off your disc drive, then exit your bios and it'll boot of the cd and enter the utility:)

at first screen you will be prompted with many option f8/f2/12 usually enters the bios but with different bios versions it differs

most bios's look different but they are structured similarly

    good luck
