I've have been having a hard time FTP'ing my xbox. I'e read through some of the other threads about IP settings and such and it was all good info but nothing worked. When I flashed my X3 chip with the bios it worked perfectly, no problems at all.

But see here is the thing, I ripped the damn DO trace at the bottom of the board (again! dammnit!), and I can't fix it 'till this weekend when I'll have the money for some conductive paint (I don't trust my soldering skills hehe).

So in the mean time so I can at least still watch movies and play games I tapped the D0 point on the top of the motherboard, and of course it frags with the chip disabled but it'll boot up fine when the chip is enabled.

However, when the X3 bios comes up (haven't got a chance to load up a dash yet), instead of displaying the IP address in the bottom corner like it used to, it now says this:

    IP: 0.0.0.0 Err X

Now I can't FTP the box for shit. What does Err X mean? Is there any way around this? Or am I just doomed to wait until the weekend when I can repair the trace?

Well, I broke down and tried soldering a small wire to fix the D0 point (instead of waiting). I was successful and the XBOX boots up just fine with the chip enabled or disabled.

However, I still can't FTP the XBOX. And it still says:
    IP: 0.0.0.0 Err X

    What's the problem?

Nevermind (not that I got any help anyway), I figured it out. All I had to do was disable DHCP. After I did that, I rebooted and then the IP address was in the bottom corner like is was supposed to be. All is well now. But thanks anyway I guess.
