I turned on my xbox the other day, and got the error code 16. I read the sticky about error codes, so i know what it means, but the fixes are all for modded xboxes. I havn't modded mine, and have no desire to do so. Is there any way to fix my xbox, or is it a paperweight now?

When the "X" logo comes up at the start, does the white ?Microsoft" come up underneath?

i think. It goes through the whole start up procedure, with the glowing green tyhing, then speeds up, then the message is desplayed. I'm 95% certian the microsoft comes up. I'd check but I'm not at home.

Yeah, you're in a bit more trouble! What I can suggest to you is that you need you're eeprom. The best way is to get it via an eeprom reader. You can build one or buy one from eBay. When you read your eeprom from your xbox, you can unlock your HD, re-install your dash and then re-lock it afterwards!
