i have a modded xbox 1.0. a while ago i had it ftp and moved or deleted the dashboard. as soon as i did my ftp connection immediately closed with no warning. i then booted xbox to find an error code maybe 13? can't remember. after giving up and leaving it to later find now getting error 16 (clock error).
it's been kicking around the house for a while so i thought i'd give it another stab. my son turned it on lately and now i am getting the linux flash screen. i tried to run the xecuter 2 flash but got mode 1 error. also tried the SlaYer's EvoX Auto-Installer v2.5 (all burned on cd-rw). the box has been modded with chameleon solderless.
i am not sure if i'm thinking right but with an external flash programmer for the chameleon, can i flash it with 8m bios to boot pass the clock setting and let me load files to fix my dashboard from slayers cd 2.5? or is this too easy?

with the executor series it's power and eject buttons at the same time that boot right into the bios. (somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

from that screen you should be able to ftp and restore your dash

power/eject @ the same time is the backup flash for the Xecuter
the Xecuter 2's have to be flashed via a programmer so you can't re-flash it with software off the harddrive or disc but you shouldn't have to. the BIOS flashed to the Xecuter currently should allow you to boot the AIDeluxe 3.xx disk and then use it to reinstall/repair your dashboard.
