I have recently had to reformat my hard drive and have since not been able to back up and dvds at all. burn process would get to around 40% the fail due to "error reading data" at first I suspected a faulty or worn out burner as have backe up plenty in the past. I have gone out today and bought a new imation burner but am still having the same probs. I can't work out if it is a dvd shrink problem encrypting or decoding the info or a nero problem actually reading the info Here is the burn log. I would really appreciate any help.
p.s I have been using the same media for the last year or so.

I'd do two or three things here....

First edit your Nero Serial numbers out of your post, they are the numbers that start with 1A20 and 1A23.

Usually when burn problems occur in the middle of the burn process it is usually because of faulty media. Your burn process was occuring normally up to that point and then it was interupted. Sometimes there are bad batches of media so even though you have been using this for a while, it may be time to change to something more reliable.

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2084 shows your firmware as current:

IMATION IMWDVRW16DLI/E - No Firmware Updates Available
    (Known Firmwares: JSI1, JSIA)

You have a newer firmware listed on your burn log so your new drive should be OK as long as you have the unit installed correctly. Did you check your cable connections?

Because you have just reformatted your hard drive and then the problem occured this should also be an area to look at.

Could your HDD be going bad on you?

You should also reinstall Nero any time you reformat or anything else that moves things around or affects registry settings. You don't have the most current version so this would be a good time to get the new version and see if that fixes the problem.

    http://nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

You may want to slow your burn speed down and see if that helps.

I'd try some different media. I use Tayio Yuden 8X -R burning at 4X.

DVD RW media is helpful to use when sorting out problems. You can record over them so you don't make so many coasters.

I'd try playing the files Shrink made on your PC and see if the problem crops up during playback.

You have a scanner plugged into your IDE buss:

    [bold]OtherPeripheral : HP C5110A 3701 symc810 Port 2 ID 2 DMA: Off[/bold]
I haven't seen that before. Shouldn't be a problem though, it's just something I noticed that had the DMA disabled.

If the movie plays OK on your PC, try the Nero update and see if that helps. Try a test burn on a DVD RW.

I'm glad it worked for you.

You should still edit out your Nero serial numbers though...

Nero can have problems if you move it around or move or add assoiated hardware like your drives. A fresh installation solves some of the problems that may come up. You can also use the Nero Registry Check tool and the Driver clean tool from time to time.

You can get them from Nero or I have them bundled with a few other Nero tools:
