Hi, I'm new to this scene, I have a movie file that says it's a AC3, 5.1 Xvid file. When I try to view the file I see a glimpse of the picture but then I get prompted with one of those error send messages and am forced to close the file. I have windows media player 9 and also tried windows media player 10 and no go. I do have the xvid codec installed. Also I hear that AC3 files sound are low, any way to turn it up? Do I have to install something else inorder to view the file? Any help, appreciated, thanks!

P.S. I tried to burn the file but also got error send message.

    AC3Filter
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ac3filter.cfm
has a preset called 'loud' that can be selected to boost the playback volume (a noted issue).
    Most people install FFDShow
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm
to playback XviD w/o XviD installed.
The DivX claims to support generic MPEG4 playback, but I dunno what error message you are getting, so you must fiddle with it, get it working - hope these suggestions help :^)
    Regards
