are you copying from a dvd disk to a cdr disk because if you are that is why you are getting the error. a dvd disk holds about 4.7gigs of info whereas as a cdr holds only 640 to 700megs so there is not enough room on a cd.

i have copied my movies from dvd to dvd+r disc with no problems before. just recently i have had this problem. i removed the program and installed dvd x-copy platinum, but the same problem occurs and same message. i have had the software for a while with no problems. dvd x-copy copies the movies and compresses it but at rewriting to a4.7 gb dvd+r it give me the message. " error writing, please check the log file for more information" . what is the log file? thank you for your response. i await yur response.

@ezl, dvdxcopy has issues with certain software that runs in the background, backup programs, certain issues with virus protections, and make sure the screensavers are disabled. I use to use xcopy, and had issues when anything would be running in the background, or when anything would pop up and begin running. I quit using it due to there were better quality programs...clonedvd2, intervideo copy 3, nero recode 2, shrink...try disabling anything that might interfere...the ad site has a dedicated forum for those with issues with xcopy and a list of known conflicts from other progs. Good luck
