Hi, I normally don't have any trouble backing up discs using DVDShrink or DVD Decrypter, but get cyclical redundancy errors when trying to backup/analyze either the widescreen or standard sides of the special edition chitty chitty bang bang discs about half-way through. Both conintue play fine in DVD player. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Is the disc clean and scratch free? Smudges and scratches will cause CRCs. Another possibility is that the disc has some corrupt files on it from the factory - it happens sometimes. Standalone players will just skip over these small bad spots but ROMs can choke on them. If cleaning the disc doesn't work then check out this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/81889 The ever-so-informative Rotary posted some very cool tricks to try (about halfway through the thread). Hope this helps
The discs are in good condition - will take a look at this thread next. Btw, when I tried a second time, DVDShrink error message now says there's a 'copy protected sector'? Thanks for the tips!!
i ues shrink first most of the time until i get an error saying shrink cant crack the encryption then i use these steps :- 1, open decrypter and rip in file mode . 2, open shrink and select open files option . 3, locate the VIDEO_TS folder load it into shrink . then it will analyze your ripped files just like it was analyzing a disc , then you can shrink it how you like ie. full disc or re-author mode . like i say normally shrink dont give me a prob but iff it does i ues decrypter first , hoped i helped )
The only time I've run into this with Shrink is when the disc had those little programs like Interactual Player on them. Coincidence? Who knows..... I always do like woof suggested - use Decrypter _X_X_X_X_X_[small] JMLS-166S/Plextor PX-708A/Plextor Premium[/small]
