I am having trouble converting avi files to dvd with all the software I have used...winavi 7.1, nerovision express, vso divxtodvd, diko.

I have been trying to create an episodic dvd from 13 20min avi files. During the conversion I get error messages such as 'winavi encountered an error and has to close down'. I also get a different error message with nerovision express.

I am unable to sucessfully complete a conversion. Any ideas???

If the avis are all in good conditions, you may try VSO DivxToDVD (free version) or DVDSanta, both very flexible.

    Good luck!

In that case, maybe your avis are corrupted. You may check with e.g DivFix or AVifixed (both free programs), but be sure to backup the movie files first.

    Good luck!

The files are not corrupted and I can play them back fine without any problems. Its just that I cannot convert them with any software i have used.

    Any ideas?

O.K., if the avis are error free, then you may try change the codec of the avis with e.g. Power Video Converter or Advanced X Video Converter (try set video to Xvid and audio to Mpeg layer 3).

Siffy, i have exactly the same problem.

Do me a favour, list applications you recently installed also, list devices which are inside the computer your trying to convert on.

I'll check your programs/devices against my list to see if we have any the same.

Im sure you also recieve the blue screen of death, with errors such as - "0x0000000A IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

I tried converting on a different pc and that converted the same avi files fine! I could in the past convert avi's with this pc but after the first error came they havent stopped coming!

I've tried reinstallations etc, to no avail! maybe we can fix this together..

I cant ebleive it i get the exact same message "0x0000000A IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".....but what does this mean and why is it called the 'blue screen of death'???? It drives me crazy when it comes out of nowhere and has been going on for a long time. It mostly appears when I have left my pc on continously for more than 24 hours.

I have installed lots of programmes recently but i have reinstalled xp and still got the blue screen, even when i was in the reinstall process!

The applications I have installed are as follows amongst general drivers/programmes:
    Any DVD
    Bitlord/bitcomet
    Clonedvd2
    dbPoweramp music convertor
    Divxcreate package
    Dvdlabpro
    Gamejack 5
    Gspot codec info
    Intervideo windvd 7/windvd creator
    Kazaa
    Limewire
    Nero 6
    power dvd 6
    winavi7.1
    winrar

There are loads of other apps that i installed and remvoed because i felt they were no good, like loads of dvd/video rippers and convertors, codec packs etc

I am converting all of them from and onto my hard drive. I occasionally use an external hard drive to transfer files.

The errors do keep on coming. Any help would be much appreciated.

To the programs you mentioned i do use/own a few..

    Any DVD
    Bitlord/bitcomet* i use bit spirit
    Clonedvd2
    dbPoweramp music convertor
    Divxcreate package*
    Dvdlabpro*
    Gamejack 5
    Gspot codec info*
    Intervideo windvd 7/windvd creator*
    Kazaa
    Limewire*
    Nero 6*
    power dvd 6*
    winavi7.1*
    winrar*

    * indicates the ones i also have installed.

I did a bit of research the other night, i think the problem is caused by conflicts between memory (IRQ's), the IRQ's are devices such as
video cards, adsl modem cards etc..

If you goto hardware/sytem devices, set the view to "resource by connection" open out the last 2 familt trees (Interrupt requests and memory) then download snag it and use its "text" screenshot taker to turn your devies into text.. we'll see which ones we have the same.

Then we will be able to get down to whats up with both our machines!

Im sure i've worked out the problem!!

We both use the same sound card! I downloaded a program called Driver Genius Pro which auto gets links to drives, let you update them!

download new drivers for your sound card,

    http://file5.mydrivers.com/files/sound/realtek_alc650_376a.exe

thats the link your card is exactly like mine. I tried to create an audio dvd which uses dvd-video compliation and that worked fine so im sure if i try videos it should (fingers crossed) work fine!!

let me know mate, hope ive cracked it!

Right, I uninstalled the new driver via control panel - add or remove programmes. Then reinstalled the driver from the cd that came with the pc and got the sound back. Now since then The BSoD has been coming up alot and after sending an error report it stated hat it was caused by a device driver. I then went to windowsupdate.com and it had an update for my c-media ac97 device but then when the update starts the BSoD comes up. I then uninstalled the audio drivers and reinstalled them and am now not gettin any sound for some reason.

I am kinda feel that the BSoD if from the audio driver but why this prevented me from converting avi to dvd i have know idea. Hope you can help!!!

The problem is caused by a conflict between drivers installed on that list you gev me

(PCI) 23 SiS PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller
    "

They're known as Interrupt memory requests, not too sure how they work but i updated my sound driver (have you ever sor an error with the file name cmudio.sys or somethin along the lines mentioned before?) I got that error a lot and i found it was linked to the sound drivers, so i just downloaded some software and updated it.

It looks asif so far, its working (im making a dvd file as we speak, i will keep my fingers crossed and post back if it completes)

Use Driver Genious Pro, it will find links to all devices needing an update!

I'll point you in the right direction mate, look in your inbox

Theres on other thing that i've dont which you havent! :(, i just remebered now i've moved house my other computer isnt linked up! so i disabled the network card and all of the things related to it in the device manager.

That could also hold the problem :(. Is your sound totally not working now? If it isnt let me know the exact make unless it came with your motherboard (onboard) ?. If so i have that on my hard drive and will upload it somewhere for you to fix that problem.

I have a wireless network connection. I have an onboard sound card , motherboard asrock k7s8x. If you can help that would be great.

The sound suddenly stopped working after installing that driver you linked. so I uninstalled the drivers for the sound card and reinstalled the drivers from the cd that came with the motherboard. Now in device manager it says that the c-media ac97 audio device is working properly but in control panel under sound and audio devices it says there is no audio dvice connected. I am still not gettin any sound after all this. Before I reinstalled the driver windows did recognise the sound card as it stated the usual 'found new hardware'. I have also checked in the bios and the ac97 sound is enabled.

Okay. You use the same mboard as me. If you try updating the driver files straight from the device manager sometimes it corrects errors. My motherboard came with a disk which had the audio drivers on it along with other various programs. Its probably the same as mine, the only difference could be that i come from the uk? not too sure if the disks are sold with different software on them in different parts of the world? Im sure there sold the same.

I dont mind uploading my drivers for you somewhere tomorrow. Im not too sure why the driver updates didnt work though, im using exactly the same - i just downloaded the "realtek_alc650_376a" file and all went well.

Did you uninstall the drivers for the audio before you installed the newer ones?

I've found another site with updated drivers which should work the sound again:

    http://www.cmedia.com.tw/e_download_01.htm

    scroll down the codec section

    CMI9761A /6CH AC'97 2.3 CODEC
    CMI9739/6CH AC'97 2.2 CODEC
    CMI9738/4CH AC'97 2.2 CODEC

Im sure its the top one but any of the three should work really!

    Good luck mate

    Dan
