You can use a capture card on your PC. Basically, you'd be plugging your Xbox directly into the capture card or using a signal splitter of some sort to have it display on both a TV and PC simultaneously.

Here's an example of a decent one for those on a budget.

The cheap capture cards only let you play on your computer , which isnt cool when your trying to do a montage , there is one at best buy for $250 that lets you play on your TV while it records on your PC.

You can't just use software SwordsG. You'll need some hardware to go along with it. Unless you have a high end video card, you won't have any A/V inputs on your PC.

Also, thirst, he doesn't need to spend $250. I can only assume that you're referring to a video card, which is overkill unless he actually plans on playing PC games with it. Additionally, I'd never recommend buying something at Best Buy when it can often be purchased for less than half the price off Newegg.

Also, like I said before, it can be set up to display on both a TV and PC at the same time, regardless of whether you use a capture card or a full featured video card. A $20 card works just fine for such tasks. There's no reason to spend much more than that.
