I really got burned on my xbox premodded unit. , I
am hoping you can help me. It worked fine until I asked tech support how to set
the correct date and time. My system has the evolutionX, Xcommander, Xbcopy and
80G HDd. They told me to go into Xcommander, then to the C drive and rename a
file called "xboxdash.xbe to msdash.xbe, but I renamed the wrong file. I
renamed evoxdash.xbe to msdash.xbe and now I only have the orginal xbox main
menu, I cannot not get back to the evox menu. They told me to download
Xcommander and boot it in the xbox, but every kind of disk I copied it to,
dvd-r, dvd-rw, cd-r, cd-rw, the xbox will not recognize it. Maybe it has
something to do the the evox disk, I don't know. Another problem, I cannot, for
whatever reason, connect the xbox to the pc using the flashftp or the cuteftp, I
have the crossover cable, IP address for xbox, username and passwork, but it
alway says "connection failed, no route to host. I have high speed internet,
with a completely different IP address which I changed to 192.168.0.1 and the
entered the xbox to 192.168.0.3. I really need some help here really just
trying to get back to the evox menu. I don't care about connecting the system
anymore. The stupid company told me to send the unit back to them and they
would send me a new system. The story is I paid $465 for this unit, I spend
$102 yesterday to ship next day back to Canada, they contact me today and will
not pay the canadian taxes of $101 because I declared a value of $465, now I
have to pay UPS $169 to have it shipped back to me, when they should have told
me in the first place not to enter any value for that reason. Can you please
help me? I am just a poor female that does not know about making all these
kinds of disks and booting and downloading, I am at witts end......

click the link and download slayers auto-installer.. burn it onto dvd or cd-rw. put it in the xbox and boot it up. it has an option to load the evox dashboard onto the drive. it has all the utilitues you need also installed with it.you should probably reformat the drive with slayers and start clean.
    hope this helps

    Make two new folders

    Name one Slayers Download

    Name one Slayers Disk

Download the file to Slayers Download
    Open up Slayers Download
    Double click on the file

    Extract to Slayers Disk

    You will end up with

    1 X ISO file EXACTLY: 180,092,928 bytes
    2 X NFO files
    7 X JPEG files

Burn the ISO to a CDRW or DVD not a CDR

    Use Nero
    Click FILE
BURN IMAGE ( select the ISO )
    Tick WRITE
    Tick FINALIZE
    DISK-AT-ONCE
    2 X SPEED

I don't know which one is the ISO file, it does not say. I know that 7 are the menus of the slayer. One is called: Install instructions V2.0, Slayers evox auto installer V2.0, slayers evox auto install. I am lost. I am trying to burn and it comes back with winiso error, will not read file, assertion failed with some squiggley symbols. I f------ give up!!!!! There is no hope for me. I am stuck with a system that will not get me back to the menu.

You can get a free demo of Nero buring rom at
    the home site http://www.ahead.de/en/#download

I used this and did not need the code for the
full version. When the wizard starts up,
cancle it and just use "open". Scroll down and
select (iso) and burn the Slayer iso file to
a blank cd-r. When you begin to upload the
auto installer, It will inform you that you should make a backup of the Xbox HD first. Since I did not know how to to do this yet, I just went ahead with the install and it did work.

The Slayer ISO file is the icon that looks like a silver CD. If you highlight it and select "properties" I believe it does say .iso

That is the only file you need to burn to the blank CD-R.

I burned it to a dvd-r. I get so many different theories as to what type of disk to burn to. DVD-r or CD-RW, some say do not use a CD-R. I don't know if the dvd-r will work because I haven't received my xbox back from ups in Canada yet. I'm sure you have read my problem with it.

cheap media will give you problems sometimes.. i dunno what all works and what doesn't but I use Memorex DVD+R's.. yeah they are like 2.50 a piece but they never will fail. I have over 70 backups and everyone has worked with those.
