Couldn't find a forum for this, so I guess I'll put it here.

I'm trying to put some emulators on my modded Xbox Original, namely PCSXBOX and a PC emulator (know if there's one for Vista games yet?). I have a network cable from my computer to my Xbox, it shows nothing there. I've heard that you can mod Xboxes using the files on a disc, and I'm pretty sure I could set it up like that. However, like every Xbox I have ever seen, the disc tray locked up after a couple years of having it. My Xbox is currently (and always has) run off a mod chip.

Do you guys know of way that I could make this work? I don't have enough money for another Xbox, and running different emulators on my PC instead seems a billion times more complicated.

So, here's a couple of things that might work if you guys help me out:
    1. Find a way to unlock the disc tray without it messing up the xbox and/or the discs I put in it.
    2. Somehow get the network cable to work.
    3. Find something cheap that I could use to alter what's on the mod chip
    4. Find something already on EvoX that allows me to put in new code (difficult but acceptable if it's the only solution).

If absolutely none of this works, I suppose I might be able to coax one of my friends to split the price if I let him do whatever with it.

disk tray .. hit eject and give it a couple of sharp whacks right above the middle of the drive.... then always leave a disk in and start with the eject button.. It's a samsung drive, the belt that runs the tray stretches.

you need a xover cat-5 cable.. read the guide.. it's huge and easy IF you can follow some simple instructions.

all that is on the chip is the hardware bios.. as it's obviously working fine.. LEAVE IT ALONE!!

psx emulator.. read the readme that comes with it.. It's way better to run a psx emu on a pc because the xbox doesn't quite have enough grunt and there is no way with xpcsx to load a lot of the plugins for certain games.. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/443777

vista games?.. are you taking the piss?? what an xbox is happens to be a limited instruction set pentium3 766 coppermine with 64 ram

better computers are available from a skip near you.

    1. I'll try, but I have doubts that it will work.

    3. It's external - it doesn't hurt anything if I unplug it (I've tried). It reverts back to the original Xbox menu.
    4. Hmm, that's weird. Why can't it run PS1 games well? I'd think that the Xbox would have power to spare, but oh well. I suppose I'll try the PC.
    5. Yes, I have taken the piss and am firmly grasping it within my palm. But seriously. That kinda sucks, I was hoping to grab a copy of Halo 2 Vista without having to run it on the second most horrible operating system to date. Oh well, I do have a computer with Vista (only use it as a network printer), so I guess I'll still be able to play it.

Hey, another question. You said it can't run PS1 games. How about Dreamcast games? If it can run Dreamcast games, I'll be all set.
