Right now i have a desktop puter and im thinking about buying a laptop. only catch is im getting it really cheap ( i think ) minus a dvd burner, wondering if i could use the dvd burner that's in my desktop, if i were to put it in an external case. or can i buy a dvd burner for it? because i went to pricewatch.com to look for one and all i could seem to find is laptop hdd's. Thanks in advance for suggestions.
Also check Newegg.com for Slim DVD burners which will work in your Laptop. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...erty&SubCategory=5&PropertyCodeValue=365:8673
Thanks for the reply SubaBud, and i appreciate the link to the slim-line burners, they are less expesive than i thought they would be. Since they are that cheap i may just sell my internal desktop burner and buy one for my laptop. Thanks much
Your welcome, but also consider that an external USB case on Newegg.com can cost as low as $30 which is still cheaper then a slim dvd burner. The advantage of having an internal DVD burner in your laptop is convenience, but price wise, you may still be better going with the external case and your current burner. Good luck either way!
have been thinkin bout it and i think i will upgrade my desktop for a Celeron 700 mghz 20 gig hdd and 192 mg ram to an XP 3200 and a 200 gb hd and 1 gig of ddr ram, Powmax, Demon 2 case and 19 inch lcd monitor. gonna try to get as close to a pentium 2.8 processor, is there any way you could tell me if im close with the AMD xp 3200? like backin up my dvd's and right now it takes me an hour and a half or longer just to encode, whereas on my friends pentium 2.8 it takes round 25 minutes. Thanks for the opinion bout the laptop, but how bout throwin a word or 2 my way bout the upgrades i plan to preform. it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Eddie
Thanks for the info ddp, i'll keep it in mind. do you think the xp 3200 will be close in performance to the 2.8 pentium ? Thanks again
