Alright so i figured its finally time to buy an external hard drive... so i go looking around best buy/amazon/newegg/etc

Seems like most drives have major problems...?

Are there any major brands out there in the 500gb range that are actually reliable?

Any help would be appreciated, i wanna get one asap.

    Thanks!

I purchased a Hammer 500GB external HDD from newegg about 20 months ago and have been extremely pleased with it. I just purchased my 2nd one from newegg a few weeks ago. The last one was about $85 with free shipping. They come in fat 32 format, and I converted them to ntfs format.

I use an internal SATA drive, in an external enclosure, connected to the computer via firewire.

I have had it for over a year, and I really like the capability of swapping out hard drives, in the enclosure.

    Just another alternative.
