need help i have a dane elec 1tb ex hard drive on vista was working fine for 3 weeks no problem now when i access it, it says it needs to do a re format and ill lose everything on it,any ideas how i can get this to read have tried a lot
Do a scandisk (with the boxes to fix errors checked). If you shutdown the external while it was writing it got corrupted. The scandisk will fix it. If it doesn't "testdisk" can recover the data from a corrupted hard drive. All your data is still on the drive as long as you don't format it. Usually a sign of corruption is hard drive showing up as unknown/unallocated/raw/not formatted.
