My external is now in the FAT32 format but when I drag a file about 4.3 GB, it still says that it is too large for the external (I converted a .mkv file to a .mp4 file so that it is playable on my 360). What did I do wrong?

    thanks man.

For some reason, I thought that I could get it formatted in a way that I could get files larger than 4 GB on there and have my 360 still recognize it.

    Is there a way?

Format as NTFS. You can then save files, larger than 4GB, to that hard drive.

Yeah I knew that BUT I wanted it for my 360 so that I can play my converted High Def. mkv files on my 360 and still be read by the system at the same time.

    I found this:

I guess this format still allows it to be read by the 360.
