Extracting 00* files just doesen't work! Help Me!

Allright, I've read almost every thread and guide there is but I still got no answer. I recently downloaded a xbox game that was splitted in files like a51x-dgr.001, ********.002 and so on all the way until *.065.

First of all I'm not sure if i joined these correctly, people seem to suggest HJoin but all it did was make a big file which Windows still not recognize. When I double click the joined file or one of the small splitted ones Windows sais the filetype is "file", how stupid is that.

So I really have a small problem here, I want to burn the game but I can't. On the torrent site where I downloaded it, it sais the files are textfiles. So what do I do with them. I'm so damn confused. I want this game to work!

Oh and the game is Area 51 if anyone else has had the same problem and hopefully solved it. Please help me quickly someone before I loose my mind!

 

If you really are flustered, there is an easy solution to the problem. Buy the game.

 

get winrar and extract the .001 file.

I have winRaR installed and it does not work. The only rar options I get whern I rightclick the file is compress to, compress and email and so on. Or is there some other way to get it extracted?

 

dont right click. open oo1 file. win rar should take over.

 

Nope, if I open it the windows dialog appears which asks either to search the web for a program, or choose one from the list. I haven't tried choosing winrar from there but it doesn't open automatically with winrar at least. I'll try choosing winrar from the list when I get home if it would want to work like that. =)

 

Thank you guys, I got it working! Just don't know why winrar didn't recognize the files automatically. They extracted just fine once I chose winrar from the list. Problem solved! I never seem to get my text right the first time
