I have LiteOn LVW5001 video recorder. I have specific recordings (chapters) I wish to get from a DVD+RW or DVD+R which I made using this recorder. What specific files should I extract/copy out? Say if I wanted a program shown in a specific box in the DVD menu display. On DVD+RW do I have to finialize the disc in order to extract particular files I want author using my p.c. (which has a dvd burner)? Actually I like to copy parcticular files for specific t.v. programs so I can use DVD shrink to edit and author my own DVD. I would like to eventually convert these video files to mpg. Could someone tell me how to do this? Anybody have any tips for me what is the best way to do this? Thanks. Bun Mui
You need to search the boards for tutorials, there is a sticky at the top of this forum for DVD authoring etc. You'll find all the answers you need to get you started, if you then run into any problems ask again!!
The first thing that you need to do is rip the DVD-VR disc (which is technically what the LiteOn recorders produce) to your hard disc ... To specifically instruct you, I need to know what software you have at your disposal .. I do what you want to do on a regular basis .. Do you have Nero? Hello catfreak, I have Nero version 6.3.1.17 and DVD shrink. When I play the Sony DVD+RW/DVD_VR which I am using on Windows Media I see 6 titles on the screen of which I wish to make titles 2,3,4,5,6 into individual video files so I can play them or view them using Windows Media Player later or use them to make a DVD+R later using Nero or DVD shrink. On the right hand column it has 14 titles so I find it confusing, some are repeats of the ones in the beginning titles. The titles at the beginning seem to be duplicated near the end titles. I have these files in VIDEO_TS folder VIDEO_TS.BUP 12KB VIDEO_TS.IFO 12KB VIDEO_TS.VOB 512KB VTS-01_0.BUP 54KB VTS_01_0.IFO 54KB VTS_01_1.VOB 1,048,574KB VTS_01_2.VOB 640,00KB VTS_01_3.VOB 50,340KB So how do I go about ripping titles 2 to 6 to individual video files? Since the files I wish to make are from video recordings about 5 mins each or less. I would also like to make each individual video file to less then 100 megs. so can upload successfully to a website so others can download. Since some places only allow uploading up to a certain limit. Thanks. Zhong
Ripping the disc to your hard drive using DVDFabDecrypter will give you all the files .. for some reason using DVD Decrypter or several others seem to leave off the first file .. Thanks Catfreak. I am confused about which programs I should use and when I should use the particular program. A few questions about the programs. So the DVDFabDecrypter that software is free version? It won't expire or have features that are crippled. If I wanted just tracks 3 and 5 and don't want 1,2,4, and 6. Is there anyway using DVDFabDecrypter so I don't have to rip the whole DVD, but just the tracks I wanted? I did rip the whole DVD it seems I see all the tracks that i could use to author using DVD shrink. I don't need to use the Decrypter program then if I try to get tracks from a DVD+r recorded by DVD recorder since if I use that program only last track seems to appear and a large file of previous recorded tracks. I am confused as to why I need to use Decrypter program in this website below between using DVDFab and DVD Shrink? It just adjust the settings for burning with DVD Shrink or what? It is that one must finailize the disc or copy it to a DVD+r disc and finalize before it could extract all the video files fron the DVD-rw disc? The DVDFab decrypter doesn't seem to work for just two files appear, like the last video and One larger file video if I use DVD+rw disc not finialized, but if I copy to DVD+r and then use DVDFab it seems to extract all the files.
