How do I burn a 5.9GB file onto 2 DVDs with Nero 6 Ultra Edition. I have tried it in nrg & iso file format but only get the notice that it is too large for one DVD...
You'd need to do one of two things: 1- You'll not be able to spread one disk image over two disks - so you'll need to create two images by splitting the file in half and re-authoring it. or 2- (the easy option) download DVD Shrink and compress the file slightly so that it will fit onto one disk, then with the output image burn with Nero as you have been trying before. Shrink also allows you to bin any unwanted audio or visual bits such as stereo sound or 5.1 sound as required or adverts, its free, and it creates an ISO image file which is just the right size. You may get away will little compression so you wont lose any quality.
Thanx, Gemsie! I should have mentioned that my 5.9GB file is a data file, not video. I cannot author it. I downloaded the *.nrg file overnight, now I need to burn a DVD in order to install the software on a different computer. I bought 2 DVD-R Double Layer blank DVDs with 8.5GB capacity. I tried to write with Nero, ImgBurn and AshampooBurningStudio8. Ashampoo writes for a few seconds then aborts. On second try it says the 8.5GB DVD is full. RDVDShrink did not work either. Any other suggestions?
Have you been able to burn dual layer before? You maybe able to get Nero to create a UDF-DVD data image and then burn that onto the dual layer? On Nero version 7 there is an option for 'Make UDF DVD' under data DVD options. If it wont burn still then at least you'll be able to break the data into two and then burn on a single layer disk. Just create a standard data DVD and select some of the files to go onto one disk from the UDF file, and then again with the rest onto another disk.
hello all, I found a neat trick with Nero for data files. I used Nero/Express/Data Essentials. That way it tells you when you reach the quota for the size of the DVD you are using, and you can move the extra files to a different DVD. I know you say yours is 5gb or so, so maybe you will have to find a way to compress the files first. Or do they have the double layer DVD's out yet? for all your computer educational information....elearning
